1973 VW Volkswagen T2 Bay Westfalia Camper van showroom condition pop top in Uxbridge, Buckinghamshire for sale

VW Camper Westfalia Volkswagen Bay Window Type 2 1973 Tax Exempt Great Original Condition Here is my immaculate 1973 LHD tax exempt Westfalia Vw Camper, called “Tango”. I am reluctantly selling it to fund a family holiday of a lifetime. The van was imported from America 3 years ago, after which it underwent a full restoration to a very high standard. As it came from a warm climate, it only required minimal body work due to being rust free. This has allowed the van to remain original with very straight and true panels. The restoration included full body re-spray including the original Westfalia pop top. The underside has been completely under-sealed and wax oiled to protect it from the English weather (see photo of inner wheel arch) Tango has been dry stored for the past few years which has allowed it to remain in outstanding rust free condition. The van has a Camp Mobile interior which is a very sort after set up and in exceptional condition. This includes ¾ rock-and-roll bed, buddy seat, fridge, sink with new tap, 15 litre water storage tank, spice rack, mirrored wardrobe, portable gas hob and lots of storage space. The pop top canvas has been replaced with top quality water resistant material which looks as good as the original. It has zipped windows which allow access to the rear roof rack from inside the van ideal for storing larger objects. The pop top has a very neat bunk which folds away when not in use. It is big enough for an adult, or could be used for extra storage space when camping. The interior seats, door cards, rock-and- roll bed and rear cushions have been professionally re-trimmed in cream vinyl. Mad Matz chequered floor tiles have been laid in the back and fitted carpet in the front. The van also has matching curtains to co-ordinate the look. Tango has a very strong type 4 1.7 cc engine, in my opinion one of the best and most economical engine fitted in Type 2 camper vans. It has just been service and many parts have been updated to keep it reliable. These include electronic ignition, new distributor, plugs and leads, complete new webber carb, replaced fuel hoses back to fuel tank including new fuel punk and regulator. Both heat exchanges have been replaced and exhaust system. During the restoration loads of other parts were replaced including brakes, pipes, hoses, tyres and even a new fuel level sender has been changed. It also was the first year they introduced a servo assisted brakes system for better stopping power! In the sale are included a cd player with a usb port and retro fitted speakers, a remote 240 volt hook up device and a Blue Bird Customs 2 berth Driveaway Awning which has loads of room and is easy to put up and compact when stored away. The van is MOTed and correctly registered as a historic vehicle. It is tax exempt saving you £250.00 per year! In my opinion this is one of the best original Campers I have seen for a long time, if you’re after an immaculate, straight camper with no work to do, ready for weekends away Tango is the one for you.
